Promotions

As the recognized USA Judo state organization, Judo Illinois is able to promote up to sandan.  

 

All higher-level promotions, after review from Judo Illinois, must be submitted to the national committee.  This committee meets twice a year at Senior Nationals in spring and the President’s Cup in November.

Candidates who want a USA Judo Black belt must meet the following national standards:

● Completed USA Judo Senior Dan Promotion Form

● USA Judo membership must be current in the Sport:80 platform, as well as Safesport training, concussion training, and background check.

● Ikkyu club rank certificate

● Detailed competition record

● Performance of techniques according to USA Judo standards

● Technique and kata demonstration in front of interim committee, either in person or via video.​​
